“While training for Iron Man New Zealand in January ’05, I tore a calf muscle doing a hard 5 km tempo run. It was severely painful, very swollen and bruised all over. I could not run for January, February and March. In New Zealand rest, ice, elevation and compression were my only treatments. Iron man New Zealand - no go. Then over to Australia for Iron Man Australia. I had physiotherapy 3 days a week for April, May and June. Still couldn’t run. Back to Canada for July and August. I hadn’t run for 6 months. I had tried everything - weights, stretching, physio, ice, rest, compression, massage, acupuncture. I was very desperate at this point with 3 Canadian championship races (all 3 qualifiers for world championships in Hawaii) at the end of August.
I saw an ad for Laser Therapy in Impact Magazine. I had no knowledge of Laser Therapy, but decided to give it a chance. It was amazing. After 9 treatments, I was able to start running slowly on and off. After 5 weeks and only 15 treatments, I was back training normally and ready to compete again. The Laser Therapy far exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get back to racing again after a serious injury.”
