Bruises
Also called contusions, bruises are normally the result of an impact. The capillaries ruptured which allows blood to move into the surrounding tissue.
While normally caused by blunt impact, bruises or contusions can also result from a pulled groin, sprains, or other sporting injuries. Unexplained bruising could be a sign of something more serious and should be examined by a medical professional.
For typical contusions, laser therapy is a very effective treatment. The infrared energy delivered by the treatment accelerates angiogenesis which is the formation of new small blood vessels from existing ones. This allows for a more rapid absorption of the blood in the tissue. The bruising diminishes rapidly along with any associated pain.
Normally our patients visit us for injuries and experience a reduction in bruising as a side benefit of treatment, though a few do treat the bruising directly. On the right you can find a the testimonials of some of those patients.
